Liquid Diet Instructions

A liquid diet is prescribed by a health professional for a patient before or after surgery. The diet is prescribed before surgery, if the surgery requires the digestive tract to by empty. The diet is prescribed after surgery, if the patient is unable to swallow solid foods. Never follow this diet longer than prescribed, as it does not provide enough protein or calories. Carefully keep track of everything eaten during the diet and provide a log to your healthcare professional.
