Cucumber Diets
Although most nutrition and health websites recommend a balanced diet combined with exercise for weight loss, some dieters are looking for a faster route. If you want to drop a small amount of weight extremely quickly, the cucumber diet may be the answer for you. This meager diet is made of mostly cucumbers and lasts for about a week. Since it does not allow for many calories or types of food, you might be hungry on this diet, but you will lose weight.-
Food
-
The main ingredient of the cucumber diet is obviously cucumbers, but unlike the perceived myth, this is not the only food allowed. The traditional cucumber diet main staple is a cucumber salad made from cucumbers and a little bit of sour cream, flavored with natural herbs, such as parsley and dill.
Dieters can also eat some fruits, such as bananas, oranges and pears, as well as one slice of bread per day and coffee or tea.
Schedule
-
The cucumber diet outlines three meals of cucumber salad per day, starting at noon and ending at 8 p.m. Between meals, dieters can supplement with fruits, hot drinks such as coffee or tea and lots of water.
Reasoning
-
The reasoning behind the cucumber diet is that a week spent eating this low calorie, high-water content vegetable will detox your system and cleanse it. This is supposedly advantageous for people suffering from poor skin or those looking to lose weight quickly for an upcoming event.
Warnings
-
The cucumber diet only provides its followers with about 900 calories per day, which is much lower than the recommended minimum of 1200 calories per day. It is not meant to be a sustainable diet because it is missing essential proteins, fats and a significant amount of calories. Consult your medical physician or dietitian before starting any diet plan.
