Diets for Runway Models
A common misconception about runway models is that they aren't allowed to eat. The truth is, most runway models eat in a healthy way that non-models could benefit from. There are many diet options available for runway models, and some are easier to follow than others. Some of the most popular are not only easy to commit to, but will leave you thin, healthy, and feeling fabulous.-
The Model Detox Diet
-
Sometimes eating poorly is inevitable. Whether on a business trip or vacation, a week or two of poor eating can leave you feeling sluggish and a few pounds heavier. This diet cleans your body of toxins and restores vital nutrients and vitamins. The diet consists of eating nothing but organic fruits and veggies for a week or two, giving your body the chance to clean out the bad stuff and keep the good. The fruits and veggies can be raw, frozen, in juice form, or lightly steamed. After no more than two weeks, slowly return to your normal, healthy eating schedule. You'll feel less puffy around the middle and more energized.
Calorie Restriction
-
Most runway models stay on consistent, healthy eating schedules to stay trim and fit. One of the most popular is a daily low-calorie diet. One pound of fat is equal to 3,500 calories. By creating a daily deficit of 500 calories, you can lose one pound per week. Another option on a low-calorie diet is to eat 250 less calories per day and burn the other 250 through exercise. Low-calorie diet foods include a variety of fruits and vegetables throughout the day, in addition to lean meats and dairy. Avoid fried foods, packaged snacks, and large portions, all usually heavy in calories. A healthy calorie intake on a diet is between 1,300 and 1,500 calories per day, but check with your doctor about what is right for you.
The French Diet
-
The French Diet is based on how the French eat: a diet rich in whole foods, avoiding the processed, sugary, or packaged. Foods in this diet include nuts, beans, fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins like chicken, fish, and beef. Real cheeses are included as long as the amount is portion-controlled to a single serving per meal. A few rules include protein portions no larger than a deck of cards and eating without distractions like television or radio. The French believe distractions cause you to eat larger quantities and faster.
The Great Skin Diet
-
The outer skin is a window into how well you are internally nourished. For runway models, having healthy skin is a must. A benefit to this diet is that you not only improve your skin but also your waistline. The Great Skin Diet is protein- and antioxidant-based. Protein maintains, regulates, and protects the skin. Good sources in this diet include nuts, seeds, beans, tofu, and lean chicken, fish, and beef. Antioxidants combat free radicals and keep cellular structure. Good choices of antioxidants include walnuts, berries, beans, and ginger.
