How to Juice Beets

The beet is an excellent candidate for juicing. It can be blended down as easily as a banana or apple, but don't confuse it with a fruit. Though beets feature a sweet flavor, they are roots related to Swiss chard. Beets are very healthy and sport both antioxidants and anti-inflammatory qualities. There are certain precautions to consider, however, when juicing or eating beets.

Instructions

    • 1

Ensure that your beets are fresh, firm, and have been grown organically. These characteristics can help to guarantee high nutritive quality and value in the beet.

    • 2

Gently wash each beet to remove all dirt. Remove the outermost layer of each beet by scraping or peeling it away with a knife. Cut each beet into chunks in a size appropriate for your juicer.

    • 3

Combine the newly juiced beets with the juice of other fruits or vegetables. Apples and carrots are excellent options. Pure beet juice can cause such reactions as hives, and an increased heart rate.
