Dieting Tips for Fitness Models
Top fitness models get paid to show off their perfectly sculpted physiques. If you dream of bikini photo shoots or being a contestant in a figure competition, younee d to devote a lot of time, energy and focus to your training and diet. The opportunities can be endless if you put in the hard work at the gym and follow a strict diet.-
Eat Regularly
-
Eating five to six small, healthy meals every couple of hours is key. Meals should consist of lean proteins, fresh fruits and vegetables, complex carbohydrates and healthy fats. Eat within 45 minutes of working out. The post-workout meal is the most important one and should include high amounts of protein and small amounts of carbohydrates. Crash dieting or skipping meals is detrimental to your dieting. You do not get the nutrients you need and you also starve your body, which can result in loss of muscle and storage of fat.
Control Sugar
-
Ideally, a fitness model should eliminate simple sugars such as candy, ice cream or cookies from their diet. It is best to avoid cravings altogether by eating a balanced diet, staying hydrated and getting plenty of sleep. If you find yourself in need of a sugar fix, eat a piece of fruit or a small quantity of dark chocolate or sugar free frozen yogurt. Depending on how close the next competition or modeling shoot is, alcohol should likely be eliminated from a fitness model's diet.
Avoid Sodium and Additives
-
Sodium, or salt, is notorious for causing water retention which leads to bloating and decreases the vascularity, or visibility, of muscle tone and veins. This can be detrimental to a fitness model's physique. Many foods contain large amounts of hidden sodium, particularly processed foods, fast foods and restaurant foods. Processed foods such as cookies, chips and sodas contain chemical additives, artificial flavors and colors and preservatives. These ingredients should be avoided.
Drink Water
-
Drinking plenty of water keeps you full, limits cravings and keeps your body operating properly. Every process in the body requires water, including building muscle and burning fat. Water can help clear toxins from the body and prevent bloating by reducing water retention. Working out causes your body to lose water, so you need to replenish the supply. Fitness models should drink 3 to 4 liters of water per day. Many fitness supplements require water to work effectively.
