Sugarless Low-Carb Healthy Diet

A sugar-free low carb diet can help you to lose weight in a short amount of time. According to an article published in April 2005 in Science Daily, the secret to weight loss on a low carb diet is that individuals are less likely to indulge where carbs are restricted, resulting in natural regulation of caloric intake. Patients on a low-carb diet ate, on average, 1,000 calories less per day than those on a diet including carbs. While making the jump from a "normal" diet to a low carb approach can be a shock, the results will speak for themselves.
  1. Diet

    • Consume a diet containing no more than 20 to 30 grams of carbs per day while following a sugarless low-carb diet approach. While on the diet, your daily carb limit should primarily come from green vegetables such as broccoli, spinach, cucumber, and lettuce, as these items are full of fiber, vitamins, and nutrients while being relatively devoid of carbs. Thus, they can serve as the ideal "filler" food to accompany all of your meals while low-carb dieting, helping to keep your stomach full and keep your mind off of carb-rich foods until your properly adjust to the low-carb lifestyle. The heart of the diet will consist of the consumption of both protein and fat containing foods, in roughly equal proportion. Remember that a gram of fat contains slightly more than twice as many calories as a gram of protein, so in order to keep the diet balanced you will have to consume twice as many grams of protein as grams of fat. Also remember that where choosing entree items, you would do well to ensure that the majority of your fat intake comes from unsaturated sources like fish oil, nuts, seeds, olive oil and other types of cooking oil, while minimizing your consumption of saturated fats and wholly eliminating your consumption of unnatural trans fats. When in doubt, check the nutritional label to determine what percentage of calories comes from the different types of fat. Finally, avoid faux-low carb foods while on this diet, such as "low-carb" cookies, breads, and the like. These foods contain sugar alcohols in place of carbs. Thus, to keep to a true sugarless low-carb diet, avoid these pretend low-carb items.

    Menu

    • Consider consuming several scrambled eggs (without milk) for breakfast on your low-carb diet, along with several slices of low-fat turkey bacon or sausage. Serve this alongside a bit of cucumber to bolster your fiber intake and provide your body with additional vitamins. For lunch, prepare yourself grilled chicken covered in melted cheese and lettuce, served with a small spinach and lettuce salad (with a low-carb dressing like balsamic, vinegar or olive oil). For dinner, grill yourself a pair of heart-healthy salmon steaks, chalk-full of omega-3 fats. Serve this with a large bowl of broccoli on the side. As a snack throughout the day, consider roasted almonds, hard cheeses or dried meats.
