1
Familiarize yourself with the glycemic index. The GI ranks foods based on how much they raise or lower your blood glucose levels. The diet requires you to eat foods with low glucose levels to help balance your blood sugar levels. For more information I recommend checking out WEB MD for a complete in depth description of the glycemic index diet.

2
Get a copy of the glycemic index. Although most glycemic index's vary, the basic "gylcemic index and carb count for common foods" can be easily found in any search engine and rates some of the most commonly found household foods.
-
3
Choose foods with a low glycemic index to cook with. There are also many glycemic recipes out there to make cooking easier.
-
4
Toss out all of the foods in your house with high glycemic index ratings. Anything that's over 70 (cakes, candy, sugar) should be eliminated from temptation. Remember, the key to a successful diet is consistency.
