Does lack of carbohydrates cause chills?
Lack of carbohydrates does not directly cause chills. Carbohydrates are an essential macronutrient that provide the body with energy, but their deficiency does not typically lead to chills. When the body does not have enough carbohydrates to meet its energy demands, it starts breaking down fat and protein for energy. Chills are often associated with fever, which is a rise in body temperature in response to an infection or inflammation. Infections and inflammation can cause the release of certain chemicals, such as pyrogens, which act on the hypothalamus and trigger an increase in body temperature. Chills occur as the body tries to warm itself up and raise its temperature.
