Rethink your diet. A healthful diet is one of the key components of a fit lifestyle. Potato chips, cookies, soda and other junk foods are high in sugars and fats, which lead to weight gain and a fatter face. Instead of junk foods, eat more fruits and vegetables -- the U.S. Department of Agriculture recommends they should make up about half of your daily food intake. Cut back on refined and processed carbohydrates such as white bread and white rice, and eat more whole grains. Eat lean protein such as chicken breast and fish.

Exercise more. Most Americans do not exercise enough. The Mayo Clinic recommends that the average, able-bodied person exercise for 30 minutes a day. Exercise activities include running, jogging, weightlifting, playing sports or swimming. Exercise and diet are the two key components of fat loss.

Drink a lot of water. While weight gain is the main way to slim your face, bloating also can play a role in your appearance. Bloating in the face occurs when the body does not get enough water and begins to conserve water in various places, including around the face. If you drink plenty of water (about nine 8-ounce classes a day), your body will not conserve as much and your face will be less bloated.

Drink less alcohol. Alcohol promotes dehydration and, in turn, water conservation. Alcohol also promotes weight gain.
