Food to Flatten a Tummy

There is one characteristic that it seems like everyone is striving for when it comes to their bodies; flat tummies. While some may find it easy to get the six-pack abs they want, others will struggle with diet and exercise and never obtain drastic results. However, some foods can help jump-start a diet and exercise regimen that can blast belly fat and leave you with a flat tummy. Look for nutrient-rich foods that pack a punch when it comes to your flabby tummy.
  1. Orange Fruits and Vegetables

    • While just about all fruits and vegetables are good food choices while dieting, if you're looking for tummy-flattening results, make a special effort to eat foods that are orange in color. Foods that are orange all share two common nutrients; vitamin C and beta carotene. Together, these nutrients give your body an antioxidant boost that helps you to shed belly fat. A study performed by Copenhagen University Hospital shows that women who cut out refined carbohydrates in bread and replaced them with orange vegetables, trimmed inches off of their waist compared to women who simply consumed the carbohydrates. Those findings alone should make you want to get a carrot and start eating.

    Almonds

    • Just one ounce of almonds per day can actually block calories from absorbing into your body. Research from the Yale University School of Medicine suggests that the magnesium in the nutrient-rich almonds stabilize blood sugar, making it easier for your body to process and subsequently expel from the body. Add that to the fact that almonds are chock full of filling protein that can help conquer your appetite, and you truly have the perfect snack for flattening your tummy. Carry an Altoids tin filled with almonds for your perfect portion size each day.

    Protein

    • Lean protein is a main staple in just about every diet plan. And there's a reason for that. Protein fills you up and gives you extra energy throughout the day. Those who eat protein each day saw a 40-percent reduction of belly fat over those who did not eat a protein rich diet, says research by Skidmore College and Copenhagen University Hospital. And while you may think that your only option for protein is a boneless skinless chicken breast, you have good news. Soy and tofu are some other good choices for lean protein, and even a well cut, lean steak can be a great way to sneak some protein in your diet to flatten a tummy.
