Foods for Rose Herbal Detox

The Wild Rose Herbal D-Tox (WRHD) is a 12-day herbal cleanse that claims to be able to increase your energy and improve your well-being. What a cleanse should be used for is to give you a fresh start, which can be best accomplished if you eat the proper foods during the cleanse. Here are the foods that are recommended and not recommended for your cleanse. Consult your physician before doing any detoxification diet.
  1. Foods to Avoid

    • The best way to ensure that you are eating the proper food during the WRHD is to remove all of the foods that aren't recommended. Least recommended are empty sugar calories. Some of these sources that should be removed from your house entirely are cake, candy, ice cream, fruit juices, soda, jams, jellies, pies, pastries and sugar (white or brown). There are some otherwise healthy foods that are not recommended during the cleanse itself. Avoid eating acid-forming foods like cheese, buttermilk, black tea and yogurt; starchy foods like bananas, dates, flour, honey, pasta, flour-thickened soups and tropical fruits; and neutral foods like cottage cheese and mushrooms. Avoiding these foods will make sure that the food you eat is rich in nutrients, low in sugar, and better at forming an alkaline (and supposedly ideal for the detox) body pH. Spend a day getting rid of these foods before your trip to the grocery store to get the correct foods.

    Most Recommended Foods

    • Here are the foods that are the cream of the crop for the WRHD. You will want to eat 80 percent of your foods from the following categories of alkaline and neutral pH-forming foods. The alkaline-forming foods include almonds, buckwheat, millet and brown rice. The neutral foods include chives, ginger, garlic, onions, herbal tea and water. Eat 20 percent of your diet from acid-forming, protein-rich fish of any kind, including sole, halibut, sea bass, cod and salmon. While there are other foods that can be eaten (see Section 3), these are the foods that your main sources of calories should come from during your detoxification. Just from the fish, brown rice and the spices, you can create many different dishes to keep yourself full during the detoxification.

    Acceptable Foods

    • Purchase some of the following foods to include those you feel you can't live without during your detoxification. Be sure to make the foods in section 2 the primary focus of your diet. There are many different fruits and nuts that you can include in the starchy, alkaline-forming part of your diet. These foods include apples, berries, cherries, peaches, pears, hazelnuts, filberts, yams and walnuts. Vegetables make up many of the neutral pH forming foods and they include avocado, broccoli, herbs for seasoning (like basil and oregano), kale, bell peppers, turnips and butter. Lastly, you can also include protein-rich, acid-forming foods like beans, beef, whole grains, white rice, poultry and lentils. Adding these types of foods can greatly increase the different recipes you can form from these diet-specific foods. It is recommended that you try your best to take in a full 2,000 calories to ensure that you are getting enough nutrition during the cleanse.
