What does the king of brobdingnag say in response to account Europeans customs and history?
In Jonathan Swift’s *Gulliver’s Travels*, the King of Brobdingnag is initially curious about the customs and history of the Europeans. He asks Gulliver to recount the history of his country and the major political events. Gulliver recounts British history with a bias toward the British and with some embellishment. The king is not impressed and remarks that the Europeans seem to be a warlike people. He remarks, “I cannot but conclude the bulk of your natives to be the most pernicious race of little odious vermin that Nature ever suffered to crawl upon the surface of the earth.” He goes on to say that he finds it hard to believe that such a small and weak creature as Gulliver could be capable of such cruelty and destruction.
