Health Foods to Avoid

Health foods are constantly promoted as a way to eat healthy and lose weight. There are many foods and products that are not as healthy as they seem. There are some health foods that you should avoid.
  1. Yogurt

    • Yogurt is often seen as a healthy snack. Many buy individual single yogurt packs, unaware that they are loaded with sugar. This sugar can cause you to gain weight.

    Cholesterol-Free Foods

    • AOL notes that cholesterol-free foods can be deceiving. While they are good for those who have cholesterol issues, they are often full of saturated fats.

    Baked Snacks

    • Baked snacks are yet another food that is supposed to be healthy, but may still be unhealthy. Baked snacks are low in fat, but are often high in sodium because of the flavor added to the snacks.

    Low-Fat Foods

    • According to Cheryl Koch, foods must have 3 grams of fat or less to be considered low-fat. While a food may be low-fat, it can still be high in sugar and calories.

    Fruit Juice

    • Fruit juices are a health food that may be unhealthy, depending on the product. Read the label to understand the amount of actual fruit juice in the beverage. Also note the sugar count, as 100 percent fruit juice still has a lot of sugar.
