Foods Containing Protein

Foods containing protein are necessary for a healthy diet. Proteins help repair and grow muscles, hair, nails and skin. They also help your body to build antibodies, which then protect you from diseases.
  1. Meat

    • All meat contains protein. Chicken, turkey and other poultry are the healthiest meats to eat. Beef and pork have unsaturated fat and should be eaten in moderation.

    Fish

    • Dark fish, such as trout, salmon, herring, fresh or packed in water albacore tuna, mackerel and sardines contain very healthy proteins. Other fish such as cod and flounder also contain protein, but are higher in fat content.

    Milk and Milk Products

    • All animal milk in liquid or powder form contains protein. Foods made from milk include cheese, yogurt, ice cream, cottage cheese and baby formula. For a healthy diet, drink and eat products made from non-fat or low-fat milk.

    Soybeans

    • Soybeans contain low-fat protein, which is very healthy. Soybean products include tofu, patties to substitute for hamburgers, bread, frozen desserts, pancake flour and candy.

    Beans
