How to Use a Vita Mix

The Vita Mix is a blender manufactured by the Vita Mix Corporation. The blender represents a "commercial-grade quality" kitchen appliance, which the company claims can do over 50 different culinary jobs. Although the blender is expensive, at $650 for the top-of-the-line model and $450 for the "stripped down" model, the blender does offer something no other blender does: a 7-year warranty. When you get a Vita Mix, you're going to have to know how to use it to get the most out of your purchase.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the blender's setting on "low."

    • 2

Put the lid on the blender and turn the power on. You can adjust the speed of the blade using a variable speed switch or dial (depending on your model) located on the front of the machine. Usually, you wouldn't want to turn on a blender without having something in it, but this is perfectly OK for making meals like soup in the Vita Mix.

    • 3

Set the blender speed to the lowest speed level with the variable speed dial. Notice the blades turning slow enough that you can see the individual blades rotating inside the blender. You can safely add anything to the blender at this speed without causing "splashing."

    • 4

Add fruits or vegetables to the blender through the access hole in the top of the lid. If your contents won't fit through the access hole, temporarily take the lid off, add the contents and quickly put the lid back on. You can add any vegetable or fruit you want to the blender to make a soup.

    • 5

Turn the variable speed dial to its highest setting and switch the blender speed to "high." This will liquefy any seeds in fruits or vegetables usually within 1 minute (time varies based on the specific ingredients).

    • 6

Turn off the blender when you have the desired consistency.

    • 7

Dump the contents of the blender out.

    • 8

Rinse the blender, and fill with water and dish soap.

    • 9

Put the lid on, and place the stopper in the lid's access hole.

    • 10

Turn the blender on high until the water suds up.

    • 11

Dump the soap and water out, and rinse. The blender is now clean and ready for your next job.
