1
Pay attention to your appetite. Has it suddenly decreased for no reason? Does your reason for a decreased appetite have to do with foods or drinks suddenly tasting funny or especially smelly? These are some of the key signs of a zinc deficiency.
-
2
Look at your skin. Another common symptom of a zinc deficiency is a sudden darkening of the pigments in the skin. This darkening occurs all over the body, and may occur quite gradually.
-
3
Examine your fingernails. Deformed fingernails and toenails are a sure sign that your body is lacking in zinc, and possibly other minerals, so if you notice such developments, seek the advice of your doctor.
-
4
Observe for signs of a decreased libido. In many individuals, a zinc deficiency will decrease sexual desire. This symptom may be more difficult to blame on a nutritional deficiency, as it may also be a symptom of simple aging, stress or personal factors.
