How to Eat More PABA

PABA, or para amino benzoic acid is also known as vitamin Bx. PABA promotes growth of healthy tissues, prevents the graying of hair and is thought to help reverse the harmful effects of UV rays after sunburn. Additionally, many health practitioners recommend therapeutic doses of PABA to treat vitiligo, as it helps promote healthy skin growth and the distribution of melanin.

      Get your daily dose of dairy products, some of the best sources for PABA. Milk, yogurt and cheese are high in fat and calories, but when taken in moderation can ensure that you are getting enough PABA to keep your body functioning properly. In addition to dairy, eggs, yolks in particularly, are a fabulous way to eat your PABA.

      Eat more whole, unrefined grains and include wheat germ on salads, in soups or mixed in with your favorite recipes, as whole grains are a fantastic source of PABA. If you are a vegetarian and exclude eggs and dairy from your diet, make sure that you eat 4 or 5 servings of whole grains and use nutritional yeast regularly to protect yourself from PABA deficiencies.

      Take PABA supplements only if recommended by a doctor or nutritionist, as excess doses can be harmful to the heart, kidneys and liver. High doses can also interfere with sulfur drugs and some antibiotics. However, it is impossible to take toxic levels of PABA through diet, so eating more PABA is your best best.
