Things You'll Need
- 1/2-gallon jug
- Baking soda
- pH strips
Instructions

-
1
Fill a half-gallon jug with tap water, three-quarters of the way full. This will leave enough space for the ingredients to be thoroughly mixed when shaken.
-
2
Measure out one-half teaspoon of baking soda, and add it to the jug of water. Place the cap onto the jug, and tighten it. Shake the jug to thoroughly mix the baking soda and water.
-
3
Allow the mixture in the jug to settle, and then remove the cap. Insert a pH strip into the water. Examine the strip to see the pH level of the water. Alkaline water must have a pH level of 8.5 to 9.0 to be effective.
-
4
Repeat this process to make addition quantities of alkaline water, making slight adjustments to the amount of baking soda, if needed.
