  1. Calories and Fat

    • Peas are nutritionally dense, yet remain low in calories and fat. A 100-gram serving of peas contains just 81 calories and 0.4 grams of fat, which is just 4% and 2% of the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA), respectively.

    Protein and Dietary Fiber

    • Protein is essential for the repair and maintenance of muscle and connective tissue. Peas are a great source of non-animal derived protein, providing 5.4 grams, or 10% RDA, per 100-gram serving. The same serving provides 5.1 grams, or 13% RDA, of dietary fiber, important for regulating insulin response and healthy digestive function.

    Vitamins

    • Peas are rich in antioxidants, important for preventing cell damage caused by free-radicals. The most abundant vitamin found in peas is vitamin C, providing 67% RDA in 100 grams. The same serving contains 25% RDA of vitamin A, 21% RDA of vitamin K and more than 10% RDA of B vitamins niacin, riboflavin and thiamin.

    Minerals

    • Minerals also offer important nutrition to promote optimal health. A 100-gram serving of peas contains approximately 20% RDA of copper, iron and manganese. It is also a valuable source of magnesium and zinc.
