Sulfur-Rich Diets

Sulfur is an important mineral for the human body and has been recognized throughout history for its healing properties. A lack of sulfur can result in many symptoms of poor health. Naturally increasing your sulfur through a sulfur-rich diet is easily achieved. There are many foods that contain high levels of sulfur that will help you increase your levels of sulfur.
  1. Animal Protein

    • Animal protein contains high levels of sulfur. Include these sulfur-rich foods in your diet such as chicken and turkey, bison meat, pork, animal organs such as kidney, heart, liver and eggs. Aim to buy free range or organic meat and eggs as these will be higher in sulfur than other meats.

    Dairy

    • Dairy products contain sulfur. Especially high in sulfur are raw milk, raw goat's milk, raw cheese and natural yogurt. Highly processed yogurts and cheeses will contain less sulfur than raw products so eat raw dairy more frequently.

    Vegetables, Seeds and Nuts

    • Vegetables such as turnips, broccoli, kale, asparagus, onion and garlic contain high levels of sulfur. Also include seeds and nuts in your diet as these can be high in sulfur. Flax seeds and sunflower seeds are especially rich in sulfur. Nuts are filled with nut protein, so consuming these will also increase sulfur levels.

    Seafood

    • Seafood products contain sulfur as well. Include wild caught seafood in your diet such as wild salmon, tuna, oysters, lobster and crab meat. Do not buy highly processed crab meat. Purchase fresh fish such as tuna steaks.

    Symptoms of Sulfur Deficiency

    • In order to recognize whether you have a sulfur deficiency, there are a few symptoms you should look out for. These symptoms include fatigue or sluggishness, brittle nails, hair loss or slow hair growth, skin problems such as rashes and eczema, fluctuating blood sugar levels and poor circulation.
