Fruits That Are Alkaline Producing

Many nutritionists say the human body should be slightly alkaline. This is measured by pH. Eating about 80 percent alkaline foods boosts the immune system and makes digestion more efficient. But many foods in a typical American diet are acid-producing. Fresh fruits are highly alkaline. A proper pH balance can be reached by eating alkaline-producing fruit.
  1. Figs

    • Figs are the most alkaline-producing fruit. One oz.of figs has an alkalinity of 30. They can be eaten raw, cooked or dried. They can also be juiced. Because figs act as a laxative, it is advised not to eat too many at a time.

    Apricots

    • Dried apricots make a great alkaline snack to-go.

Apricots are also very alkaline-producing. One oz. has a potential alkalinity of 9.5. Apricots can also be eaten raw or dried.

    Raisins

    • Raisins can be used in baked goods, like cookies.

An oz. of raisins has a potential alkalinity of 7. Raisins can be added to just about anything. They can be used for baking, in your morning oatmeal, or make a great snack on their own.

    Dates

    • Dried dates are another delicious alkaline fruit.

Dates are also quite alkaline. One oz. has an alkalinity of 3. For a delicious snack with dates, slice the date open and remove the pit. Spoon feta cheese inside, or if you prefer, crushed almonds. Top with lemon.
