Extraordinary Powers in Humans

Super human powers aren't limited to comics and Hollywood blockbuster films. There are some individuals who possess extraordinary abilities living among us. They may not possess widely imaginative abilities such as flight, X-ray vision or incredible strength, yet humans can possess extraordinary abilities beyond what most people consider normal, such as enhanced taste and crystal clear memory.
  1. Super Taster

    • Super tasters are people who posses a much stronger sense of taste than the average human. According to CNN Health, a super taster is "a person who experiences tastes such as saltiness and bitterness more intensely than other people do." People with this ability are often born with more taste buds than the average person, and can differentiate between tastes with more precision than most. Super tasters often utilize their enhanced ability to become professional chefs, wine connoisseurs or food critics.

    Absolute Pitch

    • Absolute pitch, also known as perfect pitch, is the special ability to recreate any musical note on cue without any references or aides. People with this ability can identify the pitch in common sounds, sing a specific note without hearing a reference or song and name the individual notes in a chord. Absolute pitch is a genetic trait, although the ability might be achievable during a young child's critical period of auditory development

    Synethesia

    • Synethesia is a special neurological condition found in humans that has no adverse effect on a person's ability to function. Synethesia occurs when the stimulation of a particular sensory or cognitive pathway triggers an involuntary response in another normally unrelated sensory or cognitive pathway. Common experiences of synethesia occur when people involuntarily associate colors with letters or symbols. People with synethesia also commonly assign personalities to numbers or colors and images to certain sounds.

    Eidetic Memory

    • Eidetic memory is the ability to accurately recall sounds, images or objects from memory. People with eidetic memory have a photographic memory of virtually everything that they have seen or heard. This type of memory is involuntary, as people with this ability do not utilize any special techniques to record the memory. People with eidetic memory may have the ability to recite thousands of books, draw accurate depictions of places they have visited or recall several mathematical equations, solutions and advanced numbers.
