Eat about four or five plain crackers as soon as the symptoms of heartburn begin. The wheat, flour and small amount of salt in the crackers will help your stomach begin the digesting process.

Drink about eight ounces of warm or cold milk. Drink the milk slowly, so as to not agitate your stomach more.

Wait 30 minutes to see if your heartburn symptoms have subsided. If they have not, drink one more glass of milk.
