Causes of Fatigue in Young Women
Fatigue is a common problem in the general population. The United Medical School in London noted that women are particularly at risk for fatigue. Possible causes of fatigue in women include a lack of iron, chronic fatigue syndrome and possible hormone imbalances.-
Lack of Iron
-
The University of Lausanne reported that women with unexplained fatigue benefited from an iron supplementation. The university states that iron deficiency without anemia may be a potential cause of fatigue in women after performing a randomized clinical trial that concluded an iron supplementation may benefit women with unexplained fatigue aged 18 to 55 years.
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
-
Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is an illness which causes severe, disabling fatigue that can persist for months or years. It is most common in people between 15 to 45 years of age and about two in every three people who get it are women. The causes of CFS are not understood and there is no treatment although medications such as antidepressants may be used.
Hormonal Imbalance
-
Hormonal imbalance in women is known to cause extreme fatigue and weariness in women. Hormonal imbalance is caused by an imbalanced relationship between progesterone and estrogen levels within the woman's body. Potential causes of hormonal imbalance that can create fatigue in young women include using birth control pills, hormone replacement therapy, stress, poor diet and environmental reasons such as pollution.
