Diet With Foods That Are Easy to Digest
Many people who suffer from digestive difficulties struggle to digest food because their stomach enzymes do not break down food properly. Foods such as red meat, dark poultry and eggs are difficult for stomach enzymes to break down. The key to an easy-to-digest diet is simplicity and balance of the body's enzymes. There are three diet rules to follow to keep your digestive system balanced: probiotics, fiber, and proteins.-
Probiotics
-
As stated on the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine website, "Probiotics are live microorganisms (in most cases, bacteria) that are similar to beneficial microorganisms found in the human gut." These microorganisms are considered the "good bacteria" because they help the stomach break down food. Eating probiotic rich foods such as yogurt, sour cream and cheese will create a healthy digestion environment in the stomach and ease digestion.
Fiber Rich Foods
-
According to Medicinenet.com, fiber "increases the movement of material through your digestive tract." This increase in movement can help food pass properly and in return ease the process of digestion. Foods high in fiber include whole wheat bread, broccoli, spinach, carrots, apples, oranges and raspberries. Fruits and vegetables are easiest to digest if they are cooked.
Proper Proteins
-
Since meat is difficult to digest, protein is often overlooked in an easy-to-digest diet. The body needs proper amounts of protein in order to be balanced and to continue building healthy enzymes and good bacteria. There are many substitution proteins, such as peanut butter, nuts, baked beans, kidney beans, and lima beans. These proteins are very high in fiber which eases the digestive track.
