How to Make a Fake Food Label

In an age when consumers are largely unaware of the ingredients that go into the foods they eat, food labels make the information available for any food sold in a manufactured package. When teaching others how to read and use a food label it helps to have a fake, or demo, food label on hand. The fake food label can be used to quiz others about the food and nutritional values it represents. You don't need any artistic skill to make a fake food label.

Instructions

    • 1

Peel or cut the nutritional label from a food product. It doesn't matter what product you choose because you won't use the specific information to make your label.

    • 2

Use correction fluid to blot out the specific numbers on the nutritional label. Be sure to blot out the numbers relative to servings, nutrients by weight and nutrients by percent. Allow the correction fluid to dry.

    • 3

Make a copy of the nutritional label using a scanner and printer, or a copying machine.

    • 4

Write in all your own nutritional values with a pen where you blotted out the original information. It doesn't matter which values you choose, since this is a hypothetical food label.
