Foods With Soy Lecithin

Soy lecithin is a fatty substance extracted from soybeans. It contains choline, which among other attributes is considered beneficial for the development of brain processes and the prevention of heart disease. Soy lecithin is often used as an emulsifier, or binder, and can be found in natural sources and as an additive in many processed foods.
  1. Soybean Oil

    • Soybean oil is the oil derivative of soy beans, and as such, naturally contains soy lecithin. Soybean oil is considered to be a heart-healthy oil because of its soy benefits. The lecithin exists in trace amounts.

    Chocolate

    • Chocolate is a product made from processed beans from the cacao tree. It is usually processed into a solid called cocoa, and a butter form called cocoa butter. Chocolate products such as candy bars contain soy lecithin for the emulsifying qualities it provides. The soy lecithin prevents the cocoa butter and cocoa from separating during processing, as well as in the final product.

    Coffee Creamer

    • Coffee creamer is a non-dairy or low-dairy product used in coffee as a milk or cream substitute. It contains oils, sugars and soy lecithin, as well as other ingredients. Soy lecithin is used in this product to help it dissolve better and to control clumping.
