How to Boost Stamina

Stamina is your body's ability to withstand the barrage of challenges, problems and everyday stressors that occur in the course of your everyday life. If you have a lot of stamina, you will be able to keep going in the face of difficulties without losing your pace or slowing down. If you notice yourself faltering, fumbling and ending the day completely exhausted, you may need a boost to your stamina to help you keep going.

Do aerobic exercises on a regular basis. Activities such as jogging, biking and swimming all fit the bill. Try to perform these activities at least three times a week for a minimum of 30 minutes at a time. If you can't achieve this, keep in mind that a workout of as few as 15 minutes can still yield health benefits and help increase your stamina in the long term.

Challenge yourself with short bursts of strenuous activity. You will see a greater increase in your stamina if you add a few minutes of hard running every 10 to 15 minutes in an otherwise easy jog. Pushing just a little bit harder will keep your blood pumping, circulate more oxygen and yield greater benefits.

Take up yoga. Yoga helps to warm up and stretch your muscles. It also increases strength, balance and stamina. Not only are you getting a good workout in, you are also practicing deep breathing techniques which will help you get more oxygen.

Make sure you get enough iron. Lack of iron in the diet can cause a loss of stamina. You can get iron from meats, beans, nuts and some vegetables such as broccoli and spinach. If you think you may not be getting enough iron from your diet, talk to your doctor about taking iron supplements.
