Water Bottle Ideas

Until recently, most reusable water bottles on the market were made of hard plastic. Concerns about bisphenol A (BPA) and polyethylene terephthalate leaching from the plastic into the water have made many people wary of the risks. Bottled water for sale in stores is still mainly made of plastic, but reusable containers are now available in different materials.
  1. Aluminum

    • The most popular alternative to plastic has been aluminum bottles. Companies like SIGG and Klean Kanteen have made aluminum bottles fashionable, with designer colors and graphics. The bottles can be easily scratched and dinged when they are dropped, but overall they are fairly durable. Some people complain that their water takes on a metallic taste in these bottles, but that usually disappears over time with repeated washings.

    BPA-free Eastman Tritan Plastic

    • Tritan bottles have the same clarity and durability of polycarbonate plastic, but without the BPA, which is the main concern about plastic bottles. Nalgene has begun making bottles with Eastman Tritan, as have Kor One and Thermos.

    Glass

    • You can now find stylish, reusable glass bottles from companies such as Love Bottle and Tkaro. Perhaps the most elegant and appetizing option, glass is a classic choice. You can also simply reuse glass bottles and jars from foods and liquids you've purchased, although they may not be as durable as bottles that are specifically designed to be portable.
