Wellness Education Programs
Wellness education programs seek to educate the public about the mental, physical, social and emotional aspects of health and well-being. These programs may be developed for children, adults or professionals in the community such as teachers or health care providers. They often include workshops, trainings or physical activities designed to teach these individuals techniques on enhancing the quality of life.-

Project Adventure (PA) is an international nonprofit organization founded in 1971 that provides the educational tools necessary for schools, agencies and corporations to develop programs that promote positive growth or change. PA's Health and Wellness Education Program was designed to train educators, youth workers, counselors and advisers who aim to develop or enhance a health and wellness program. These professionals learn how to teach activities for all age groups which focus on fitness, nutrition, cultural awareness, stress management and substance abuse prevention. They are provided with workshops, continuing education programs and other tools that may be needed to customize their program.

Foundation for Wellness Education

The Foundation for Wellness Education is a nonprofit organization providing workshops and programs to educate the public about health and wellness through community groups and organizations. They provide five general interest workshops and three programs directed towards business employees. These programs are offered free of charge.The foundation's most popular program is entitled Take Five! Stress Relief Break, which teaches individuals how to perform a five minute pressure point massage. Participates will also have a master nerve system scan conducted on the spot and be able to have their health-related questions answered by volunteer doctors.

Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA)

The Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) is one of the largest nonprofit organizations in the country with more than 2,686 institutions and 20,916,698 members, as of 2009. They are also the largest providers of health and wellbeing programs. There are 138 YMCAs participating in the Healthier Communities Initiatives Program, which is designed to build healthy minds, spirits and bodies within individuals. These programs are lead by government officials, public health officials, presidents of local businesses and education officials. Another wellness program offered through selected YMCAs around the United States is "Livestrong at the YMCA." In 2007, the YMCA partnered with the Lance Armstrong Foundation's Livestrong program, which supports the health and well-being of people affected by cancer, to encourage physical activity among cancer survivors.
