How to Use a New Brita Filter
Brita has been one of the most successful water filtration companies since 1966 when the company was founded in Germany. They released the first home water filtration jug in 1970. The filter contains a combination of activated carbon and ion exchange resin. It also has an inhibitor that prevents bacteria growth. As water runs through the filter, such chemicals as lead, chlorine and copper are substantially removed. Using a new Brita water filter is very easy.Things You'll Need
- Brita filter
- Tall glass of tap water
- Brita jug
- Warm water
- Mild detergent
Instructions
-
-
1
Wash your hands. Brita strongly recommends that you only handle the filter once your hands are clean.
-
2
Open the Brita filter package. The filter is sold in a box but is stored in a bag inside the box that needs to be torn open.
-
3
Drop the filter into a tall glass of cold water so that the filter is completely immersed.
-
4
Allow the filter to soak in the water for 15 minutes.
-
5
Wash your Brita jug with warm water and mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly.
-
6
Rinse the filter under running tap water for several seconds.
-
7
Slide the filter into the reservoir of the jug. The groove in the filter will slide into the notch of the reservoir to form a tight seal.
-
8
Fill the jug by running tap water into the reservoir so it flows through the filter and flows into the jug.
-
9
Discard the first two jugs of water that run through the filter. Replace the filter about every 2 months or 40 gallons of water.
