Carrot Oil Remedies

Often the best products for your skin don't come from a lab, but from Mother Nature. The essential oils from carrots have numerous benefits for your skin. The oil can be consumed externally or internally, but either way you'll be providing your body with copious amounts of vitamin A--which is essential for resilient skin--and antioxidants, which help prevent and reverse skin damage. Carrot oil will keep your skin looking healthy and glowing.
  1. Tanning and Sun Protection

    • Recent research shows that the topical use of antioxidants helps protect the skin from aging caused by the sun, sunburn and skin cancer. Skin cancer, the most prominent type of cancer in the United States, is often preventable with the proper protection from the sun.

The carotenoids found in carrots, specifically called beta-carotene, not only decrease damage from ultraviolet rays and inhibit the spread of cancer cells, they also promotes the production of natural melanin, which produces a golden (not orange), even tan. Be sure to use carrot oil products on your skin that don't contain mineral oil.

    Wrinkles and blemishes

    • Carrot oil is high in vitamin A, a deficiency of which can cause dry skin and wrinkling. For an anti-wrinkle formula, place peeled and washed carrots in a jar filled with coconut oil. Keep the jar in the sun for a month and then strain the carrot trash from the oil. Use the oil as your nightly moisturizer. You can also create a gentle skin exfoliator that sloughs away dead skin and blemishes. Grate the carrots and mix it with sugar granules and coffee powder. Use as a facial scrub.

    Fighting Inflammation

    • Carrot oil has been known to work wonders for dermatitis, eczema and psoriasis. It also has properties that reduce scarring and inflammation. Dripping carrot oil over cuts or wounds helps rid the skin of viruses and diminishes the chance that bacteria and tetanus will develop. In addition to the oil, also try grating carrots and mixing in some lemon juice. Apply this mixture to your skin and leave it on for about 20 minutes to reduce inflammation.
