Fruit & Milk Diet

The fruit and milk diet is a detox-style diet, designed to cleanse the body of buildup of toxins. While WebMD explains that detoxing the body has not been proven to get rid of impurities, since the body is designed to remove toxins naturally through organs like the liver and colon, those who use the fruit and milk diet do succeed in removing excess waste in the bowels and giving their bodies a break after a period of bad eating.
  1. Ingredients

    • To begin the diet, make sure you have plenty of whole organic milk and fruits like pears, grapes, grapefruit, pineapple, apples, oranges, melon and peaches. Harry Benjamin, N.D., explains that bananas are not allowed on the diet, and no fruit should be stewed or dried. Since the diet is purely fruit and milk, eating vegetables, grains and protein is not allowed for the duration of the special diet.

    Diet

    • The two-day diet requires that you eat three meals a day, comprised of the fresh fruit that is allowed on the special diet. The day before the diet, drink four cups of milk during the course of the day, to see how your stomach agrees with it. On the first day of the diet, drink a glass of organic milk every two hours, for a 12-hour period. When you are not eating fruit or drinking milk, having water with lemon will help keep you hydrated and your metabolism stimulated.

    Breaking the Diet

    • Once you have finished your fruit and milk diet, prepare your body for new foods by incorporating fresh fruits and vegetables into the diet every five hours. Breakfast should include fruit juice and grapes, while lunch can be comprised of a fresh salad with tomato, carrot and olive oil with lemon vinaigrette. Eat a dinner of steamed leafy green vegetables and have a serving of prunes to get the digestive tract stimulated again after finishing the two-day diet.
