Foods Containing Calcium Oxalate
Calcium oxalate can contribute to the formation of kidney stones. This chemical compound forms when calcium and oxalate combine—no food contains this compound naturally. Cutting back on foods rich in oxalates can reduce the formation of this compound and consequently lower the risk of getting kidney stones. Not everyone who suffers from kidney stones should also reduce calcium consumption, however, since this will only benefit certain individuals who have conditions that contribute to excess calcium in the blood and urine.-
