Excess tummy fat can be caused by reasons other than bad dietary habits or lack of exercise. Reasons we store excess fat around the midsection include menopause, genetics, stress, slow metabolism and improper digestion.
  1. Clothes

    • You can create an illusion of a flat tummy with proper clothing choices. Be sure to not select tight fitting garments as this will emphasize belly bulge. Choose clothing that is a comfortable fit. Stay away from overly loose clothing. Select fabrics that do not hug the body; opt instead for cotton and other soft fabrics. Dresses are good options for making tummies appear flatter. Wrap style dresses effectively help create the illusion of a slimmer belly area.

    Exercise

    • There are a couple of exercises that can be done to get a flat tummy. Perform these exercises at least four times a week doing repetitions at a comfortable rate to tone and flatten stomach. Crunches are a very effective way to tighten abdominal muscles and flatten your tummy. You can do leg lifts which help to firm up the lower abdominal muscles decreasing tummy bulge. Leg crosses and leg scissors are also effective ways to tighten stomach muscles.

    Diet

    • Establishing a healthy diet regimen is essential to reducing tummy bulge. Limit your intake of fat and avoid proteins containing excessive fat amounts. Take a daily dietary supplement to ensure you are receiving a healthy balance of vitamins and minerals. Be sure to include a healthy portion of vegetables in your daily diet. Consume fruits that do not have high sugar content. Drink adequate amounts of water daily to flush sodium out of your system. Excess sodium causes water retention and tummy bulge.
