Diet to Help With Testosterone Injection

According to an article from the Digital Urology Journal, testosterone replacement therapy is a fairly common procedure used to supplement the testosterone production of individuals who are otherwise deficient, such as men who have lost one or both testicles to cancer. If you are currently receiving testosterone replacement therapy, you will want to follow a generally healthy diet to control your body fat levels. According to Dr. Joseph Zmuda, high body fat will result in aromatization--the conversion of testosterone into estrogen, exacerbating problems.
  1. Testosterone Injection Diet

    • Consume a diet which contains natural foods, a moderate level of carbohydrates, and a reasonable amount of healthy unsaturated fat to help control your waistline while on testosterone therapy, minimizing the chances that the injected testosterone will be converted into unwanted estrogen by your body's fat stores. The easiest way to accomplish this goal is to eat a diet which is relatively balanced, much like the approach advocated by The Zone Diet. The key point to this approach is to obtain all of your nutrition from natural food sources--this means skipping out on processed foods and meats, "fast" foods, fried items, sugars, alcohol and other junk calories. Your protein sources should be lean meats like seafood, poultry, and low-fat beef; your carbohydrate sources should come from fresh fruits and vegetables; and you should get most of your fat intake from unsaturated fats like nuts, seeds and oils.

    Sample Meals

    • Breakfast on a diet to help with testosterone injections could consist of three or four eggs cooked to order, turkey sausage, and a fruit salad or bowl or fresh berries. Lunch could consist of a turkey sandwich (not from processed lunch meat) on whole wheat bread, cheese, lettuce, tomato and a bit of mayo, along with some almonds and a piece or two of fruit. Dinner on the plan might consist of grilled steak served with a sweet potato, and a bowl of fresh broccoli with olive oil or balsamic dressing. Consider snacking on nuts, fruit, cheeses and other healthy items throughout the day to keep your metabolism burning, helping you to shed additional pounds and make the most out of your testosterone injections.
