How to Make a Caffeine Withdrawal Headache Go Away
Instructions
-
-
1
Quit gradually. This process will take about a week if you drink two to three caffeinated beverages a day. On day one, drink half as much as you normally would. Then each day after that, drink fewer caffeinated beverages and more water than the day before.
-
2
Breathe deeply from your stomach, not your chest. Taking deep breaths will allow the blood flow to increase and relieve headache pain.
-
3
Take naps daily for a week after quitting caffeine. Caffeine lessens the amount of sleep you need each day, so take naps for one to two hours a day to help with the headaches.
-
4
Take over-the-counter painkillers, such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen. This will help relieve and possibly stop the headache pain, depending on the severity.
