Determine your weight in pounds and height in inches.

Divide weight in pounds by height in inches squared.

Multiply the result by a conversion factor of 703. This is your BMI.

Determine BMI range on the CDC's BMI tables. A BMI of 18.5 or less represents an underweight person; a BMI between 18.5 and 24.9 is a normal range; BMIs between 25.0 and 29.9 represent an overweight score; and doctors consider BMIs of 30 and above as obese.
