How to Raise DHEA
DHEA is short for dehydroepiandrosterone. DHEA is a naturally occurring steroid hormone in our bodies. It is produced from a young age by our adrenal glands, and it is synthesized in our brains. Our bodies produce their male and female hormones from DHEA. Studies have found that as we age, the levels of DHEA in our body decrease, especially after age 50. Some people believe that if we increase our DHEA levels, we can boost our immune systems and, theoretically, turn back the aging clock. A few tips can help you boost your DHEA levels.Things You'll Need
- Natural progesterone cream
- Measuring spoon

1
Find a doctor to check your DHEA blood levels. Discuss the natural range of DHEA levels and, if you are deficient, ask what your doctor recommends to increase its levels. Always follow your doctor's advice.
-
2
Avoid insulin supplements, danazol, opiates and corticosteroids. These prescription drugs have been shown to lower DHEA levels.
-
3
Apply ¼ tsp. of natural progesterone cream to your skin twice a day if your body is deficient in DHEA. Your levels will rise slowly with this regime. Quit using the cream as soon as DHEA levels return to normal.

4
Exercise. Obesity inhibits DHEA production. Walk at a comfortable pace for 10 minutes a day for a week. Each week, increase your walking time by five minutes until you are walking 60 minutes a day.
-
5
Begin a low-carbohydrate diet. Studies in humans and primates have shown that a decrease in carbohydrates leads to an increase in DHEA.
-
6
Take a 10mg supplement of DHEA daily along with the DHEA cream until DHEA levels are normal.
