How to Add Fiber to a Drink

You can try several sneaky ways to add fiber to your diet, and adding fiber to a drink is one of the easiest. Numerous diet drink mixes contain large amounts of fiber, and you can tastelessly add special fiber mixes to other drinks. You can even concoct your own fiber-pumped drinks out of fruit- and vegetable-filled smoothies.

Instructions

    • 1

Add your fiber smoothie ingredients to a blender. Use a yogurt with fiber, and use milk as the liquid ingredient of the smoothie. Add fresh fruits and vegetables.

    • 2

Cut the fruit and vegetables into small cubes for easier blending. Remove big seeds, but leave peels as they contain the highest concentration of fiber. Use vegetables like cucumbers, lettuce, broccoli or carrots as these vegetables do not have strong flavors that will take away from the fruity taste of the smoothie. Onions, garlic, or tomatoes have stronger tastes that cannot be disguised by fruit flavors.

    • 3

Blend the ingredients together on the puree or liquefy setting of the blender. Eliminate chunks of fruits and vegetables to make drinking the fiber-full concoction less of a chore.

    • 4

Drink down the fruit smoothie as quickly as possible. If you like the taste and texture of the smoothie, you can take longer to consume it; however, if the taste or texture bothers you, it is better to drink the smoothie quickly.

    • 5

Add fiber drink mixes to water, milk, juices or other mixed drinks. Mix in the appropriate amount of fiber drink mix powder to the ounce size of your drink. Stir with a spoon, and consume. Some fiber drink mixes will blend tastelessly into other drinks while other fiber drink mixes are flavored for adding to milk or water.
