Beef & its Effects on Testerone Levels
Beef is a good source of a variety of vitamins and minerals including protein, zinc and vitamin B12. Zinc, protein and natural saturated fats found in beef are important for production of testosterone in the human body.-
Testosterone
-
Testosterone is a male sexual hormone linked to increased sexual function, muscle and red cell mass and bone density. Severely high testosterone levels are also linked to increased aggressive behavior in humans.
Organic Beef
-
Organic grass fed beef is naturally high in protein and zinc and is a good source of testosterone in men.
Industrial Farming
-
Cattle farmed in an industrial setting are implanted with hormones such as the female sexual hormone estrogen which can lower testosterone levels in men.
Low Protein Levels
-
Elderly men are particularly prone to low protein levels which can be averted by beef consumption. Low protein can lead to a raised level of the sexual hormone binding globulin that can decrease testosterone levels.
Testosterone Implants
-
Cattle bred for both meat and dairy farming are often given testosterone and its synthetic version Trenbolone Acetate, supplements to aid growth. The problems with these hormones is that they are usually contained in genetically modified corn which has been sprayed with pesticides.
Healthy Amounts
-
The American Institute for Cancer Research recommends a daily intake of red meat that does not exceed 80 g or 2.8 oz. per day as high intakes of meat are linked to cancer and cardiac disease risks.
