Foods You Can Eat on the Abs Diet

Eating right is the single most important factor in building abs. In order to show your six-pack, you will have to excercise and diet to remove fat that is covering the stomach wall. These power foods will allow you to do just that.
  1. Abs Diet Power

    • The Abs Diet Power program was developed by fitness expert and nutritionist David Zinczenko. "As the editor-in-chief of 'Men's Health' magazine, I know that you--no matter how big your belly or how many diets you've tried--can develop great abs." The concept behind this nutrition plan is simple: eat small, healthy meals to keep your metabolism high. This will, in turn, burn fat.

    Food Group One

    • The nutritional aspects of the Abs Diet Power plan are broken down into a simple acronym: A.B.S. D.I.E.T. P.O.W.E.R., with each letter representing a food item in the nutrition plan.

A--almonds and nuts. These fortified foods will keep you full and contain good fats.
B--beans. Beans are full of fiber, which will leave you feeling full. In addition, they also contain a good amount of protein.
S--spinach and green veggies. Many vegetables are high in fiber; in addition, these foods are low calorie, which will assist in maintaining a thin waistline.

    Food Group Two

    • Each set of food groups/items contains specially designated nutritional tools to help you gain muscle and lose weight. Group two includes:

D--dairy items. Fat free milk and cheese are great tools to add to your diet. They are often high in protein and calcium, and low in carbohydrates.
I--instant Oatmeal. Oatmeal is one of the best snacks/meals you can piece together to leave you feeling full and provide an extra energy boost.
E--eggs. Packed full of protein, eggs are a great breakfast tool.
T--turkey. Lean meats, such as turkey, are packed with protein and contain zero carbs. They are an excellent source of nutrition for losing weight and gaining muscle.

    Food Group Three

    • The final food group in the Abs Diet Power program contains nutrient dense foods and supplements.

P--peanut butter. While many think that peanut butter is high in calories--and it is--peanut butter is also high in protein and healthy fats.
O--olive oil. Healthy fats and oils are a natural way to lower cholesterol.
W--whole grains. Ditch the high-in-sugar white bread and add a whole grain loaf for your sandwiches. This slow digesting carbohydrate will keep you feeling satiated.
E--extra whey protein. Adding additional protein to your diet not only keeps you feeling full, but it adds nutrients that help build muscle.
R--raspberries. High in antioxidants and added energy: two key ingredients to staying healthy.

    Eat Healthy, Live Healthy

    • In order to obtain that much coveted six-pack, you are going to have to work. Doing thousands up situps each day won't help you; in fact, it will hurt you--overtraining hinders muscle growth. Maintain a healthy lifestyle and follow the A.B.S. D.I.E.T. P.O.W.E.R. plan, and you'll have washboard abs in no time.
