How to Reduce Graininess of Protein Powder
Protein powders offer bodybuilders and dieters a quick source of concentrated protein in an easy to drink beverage form. You can combine protein powders with water, milk or juice. They come in a wide variety of formulations and flavors, some of which dissolve better than others. Some powders contain thickening agents that make them harder to dissolve. Soy-based powders are also known to clump together. You can prevent graininess in your protein shake by varying preparation methods.Instructions

1
Pour the protein powder very slowly into the liquid of your choice; stir it with a large spoon as you pour. If this simple method doesn't work, try the next step.

2
Purchase a shaker cup that comes with a leak-proof lid. Pour half of the liquid in first, add the protein powder and then the rest of the liquid. Following this order prevents the powder from sticking to the cup.

3
Close the lid on the cup tightly and shake vigorously for one minute. If the powder is not dissolved fully, shake for another minute. If this method still leaves graininess, try the next step.

4
Combine protein powder, a few ice cubes or pieces of frozen fruit and liquid into a blender. Blend for one to two minutes, or until the ice cubes or frozen fruit pieces are ground into small pieces. The blender will help the powder dissolve more fully and the crunchy texture of the ice cubes or fruit pieces will disguise any remaining graininess.
