    • DGL licorice has been used to treat harmful intestinal bacteria such as Helicobacter pylori, which is responsible for ulcers. The University of Maryland Medical Center notes that licorice root fluid extract was used to treat 100 patients with stomach ulcers and 90 percent showed improvement after six weeks.
