Aminovol Side Effects

Aminovol is a bodybuilding supplement produced by NxLabs. It contains a series of amino acid-based ingredients designed to stimulate protein synthesis, which in turn can aid muscle growth. The company also claims its other ingredients can improve the body's ability to absorb and use the amino acids, as well as helping the body produce more nitric oxide and increase blood flow, which can help more of the nutrients reach the muscle.
  1. Labeling

    • Claims about the product's content have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration and NxLabs does not publish side effect details on its nutritional information label for Aminovol. However, several of the ingredients and compounds in Aminovol carry potential side effects.

    Main Ingredients

    • BCAA Complex is the largest active ingredient in Aminovol by weight (2000 mg per serving). It is made up of the amino acids leucine, isoleucine and valine. High levels of leucine can induce symptoms similar to hypoglycemia, while exceedingly high levels of leucine may increase the total amount of ammonia in the body.

Each serving also contains 1000 mg of Essential Amino Acid Complex. This is made up of lysine, threonine, methionine and phenylalanine. Lysine has the potential to cause gallstones, increased cholesterol levels and diarrhea, but these would normally only occur at levels considerably higher than is contained in the recommended dose of Aminovol.

    Kidney and Liver Disease Sufferers

    • There are two significant ingredients that may be problematic for people with particular medical conditions. Non-Essential Amino Acid Complex is made up of 10 substances, most notably alanine. This substance does not have significant side effects for most people, but those with kidney or liver disease should consult a doctor or other medical professional before taking it.

Another ingredient, Anti-Catabolic Complex, contains N-Methyl-N-guanyl-glycine, which is better known as creatine. There are anecdotal reports of its causing a variety of physical damage, though these are not supported by medical research. There is insufficient evidence to declare it safe for use by those under 18. The substance should be avoided by people with kidney problems, as the body breaks creatine down into creatinine, a substance that is also naturally excreted by the kidney.

    Pregnant Women

    • The Aminovol ingredient NO Stimulating Complex contains five substances, most notably arginine alpha-ketoglutarate. This is thought to be safe for most adults, though there is insufficient research into its effects on women who are pregnant or breastfeeding to be sure it is safe for them to use.

    Serving Size

    • A container of Aminovol contains 66 tablets, equivalent to 11 servings at the recommended size of six tablets each. As with any drug or medical supplement, exceeding this recommended serving size can increase the risk of side effects.
