What Is Xango Used for?

Some people seek health benefits from dietary supplements or juices. However, health claims made by manufacturers of these product often have not been evaluated by reliable organizations such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
  1. Identification

    • Xango is a proprietary blend of many different fruit juices including that of the mangosteen fruit, which is found in a variety of countries including Malaya, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore and Burma. The manufacturer claims Xango juice is different than similar juices on the market because the entire fruit, including the skin, is utilized in its production

    Xango

    • The manufacturers of Xango juice state on their website that their product has many health benefits, including immune system support and the support of joint and cartrilage function. They claim research proves this is due to the presence of xanthones--antioxidants--in the juice, although they fail to specify the clinical study or trial from which they base these statements.

    Considerations

    • According to Paul M. Gross, PhD, the mangosteen fruit contains xanthones in the portion of the fruit called the pericarp, which may be of some health benefit. However, no dietary supplement or juice should be used to replace traditional medical treatment.
