Negative Effects of the Endurox Powdered Protein Supplement
Endurox R4 Protein Powder Recovery drink is made up of a 4 to 1 ration of protein and carbohydrates. Each serving of Endurox contains 13 grams of protein and 52 grams of carbohydrates. There are no known side effects of Endurox when used properly, use of protein powder by those exercising or attempting to increase muscle mass is safe. There are, however, detrimental effects with excessive consumption of ingredients found in protein powder supplements.-
Allergic/ Physical Reaction
-
Endurox contains whey protein. Whey protein, derived from milk, may produce problems for people with lactose intolerance. Endurox is also designed to induce insulin responses, so those with diabetes should take caution when using the product.
Dehydration
-
Processing high levels of protein can lead to dehydration. Urine contains elevated amounts of water during times the body is processing large amounts of protein. This can be counteracted by increasing fluid intake.
Digestive Problems
-
Gas, abdominal cramping and constipation may occur with the use of Endurox or other protein products. This especially holds true if it is being used to replace meals that would typically contain high fiber, as fiber is critical for proper digestive function.
Kidney Problems
-
Kidneys, responsible for filtering proteins, may endure additional stress under circumstances of excessive protein consumption. Research has not shown a decrease in kidney function due to high protein intake as long as the kidneys have no prior functional problems. Studies have found, however, that kidneys beginning with a decreased level of functionality may experience further function impairment from a high protein diet.
Osterporosis
-
Extra amino acids process into organic acids during periods of excessive protein consumption. Kidneys process these organic acids by pushing calcium into the urine. This information is particularly relevant in older women who already are experiencing bone density loss. The same effect of bone density loss can be achieved by having too little protein, however, recommended levels of Endurox should not contribute to osteoporosis when taken as directed.
Weight Gain
-
Endurox contains 270 calories per serving and 1 gram of fat. Although this level is minimal compared to other protein powders on the market, excessive consumption of Endurox in addition to ordinary meals or snacks could cause weight gain. Weight gain is most likely to occur when a protein powder shake is taken without accommodating it with an increase in exercise.
