Uses for Gatorade

Gatorade replenishes the body with carbohydrates, salts, vitamins and minerals. Athletes generally drink Gatorade to quench thirst and restore electrolytes during and after vigorous workouts or athletic events. Gatorade can also be beneficial for other uses.
  1. Nausea and Diarrhea

    • Since Gatorade is a re-hydration drink, it is beneficial when when suffering from nausea and diarrhea. Drinking ample amounts of water during this time of sickness is sufficient enough to restore electrolyte balance loss. For those not fond of the taste of regular water, however, Gatorade is an appropriate alternative.

    Furniture Polish

    • Gatorade is not just for drinking anymore. Take a bottle of Gatorade and conquer household cleaning chores. The sports drink works well as a furniture polish. Half a bottle of water mixed with half bottle of Gatorade --- preferably orange flavored Gatorade --- keeps furniture polished and shined.

Although Gatorade is not promoted as a furniture polish, it contains orange extract just as orange oil does, which brings back a shine to lackluster wood furniture. A small amount of this mixture poured on wood, then polished with a soft washcloth creates a deep lasting shine. Gatorade also works to clean and shine porcelain figurines and china pieces.

    Toilet Cleanser

    • Gatorade is also beneficial for cleaning the toilet bowl. Pour a half of bottle of a clear flavor of the brand in the toilet bowl and let it sit for an hour and a half. Then scrub the bowl with a stool brush to clean the interior bowl. Citric Gatorade flavors remove deep-seated stains in the toilet bowl. The citrus acidity in Gatorade has the power to remove stains.
