Halodrol 50 Side Effects

Anabolic steroids are a popular supplement used by bodybuilders to increase muscle mass. Halodrol-50 contains anabolic steroids. This supplement is not FDA-approved. In 1991 all such androgenic anabolic steroids were placed categorized into schedule three of the Controlled Substances Act by Congress. According to the Association Against Steroid Abuse, possession of these drugs is punishable by law and carries a maximum penalty of one year in jail or a $1,000.00 fine.

  1. Identification

    • Halodrol-50 and other supplements containing anabolic steroids are synthetic versions of the hormone testosterone. The anabolic characteristics of these drugs accelerate the growth of muscles, red blood cells and bones. They were developed for legitimate medical conditions, but the appeal of the drugs for some athletes is that they promote muscle building with or without actual strength training. When used in conjunction with exercise, they allow the athlete to build muscle at a much faster rate.

    Function

    • Because these drugs are a synthetic form of testosterone, once the body detects their presence, it responds by immediately lowering production of natural testosterone. Depending on the amount of anabolic steroids taken, natural production of testosterone may cease entirely. Similarly, once the individual stops the use of steroids the body will begin to produce testosterone again. Unfortunately, there is sometimes a considerable delay between these two occurrences, which forces the body into a state of temporary hormonal imbalance.

    • According to the Centers for Disease Control, the use of steroids among students is a considerable problem. As of 2005, there were an estimated 660,000 students between the ages of 14 and 17 who admitted to using steroids to aid in their athletic endeavors.Many of these students were unaware of the dangers associated with these drugs. On July 28, 2009, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a health warning to the general public, stating that any bodybuilding supplements containing steroids or steroid-like ingredients pose serious health threats and should not be used prior to consultation with a physician or other licensed qualified health care professional.

    Risks and Warnings

    • According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, among side effects of Halodrol-50 are cardiovascular problems, including irregular heartbeat, weakening of the tendons, elevated LDL (bad cholesterol) and decreased HDL (good cholesterol). Other side effects include hormonal imbalance, aggressiveness, dizziness and blurred vision. Side effects specific to men using Halodrol-50 are enlargement of the prostrate gland and impotence.

    Other Considerations

    • Persons taking prescription medications and Halodrol-50 are at an even greater risk for health problems. This is because athletes using such steroids are generally not doing so under the advice of a physician and consequently may not be aware of possible interactions with prescribed medications.
