BSN Thermonex: Side Effects
BSN Thermonex contains many ingredients that boost metabolism, support fat tissue breakdown, promote thermogenesis and provide energy during and after workouts. Like all supplements, Thermonex has the risk of side effects. Different individuals will respond differently when taking Thermonex, so one person may experience little or no side effects while someone else may experience moderate to strong side effects.-
Side Effects from Caffeine
-
Caffeine anhydrous, a crystallized form of caffeine, provides energy and increases metabolism. Caffeine, in any form, acts as a stimulant. Mild reactions to caffeine anhydrous include: jitteriness, sleeplessness, nervousness, increased heart rate, upset stomach and nausea. More serious side effects include: tachycardia, tremors, increased urination (which may lead to dehydration) and delirium. Used over extended periods of time, caffeine dependency may develop. At this point, removing caffeine from the diet may cause withdrawal symptoms. Common withdrawal symptoms include headache, dizziness, irritability and nervousness.
Side Effects from Green Tea
-
Green tea extract offers many benefits due to its high antioxidant levels. However, it has the potential to interfere with the effectiveness of many medications. Green tea may impede the function of adenosine, a medication used to treat irregular heart rhythms. The vitamin K in green tea renders the blood thinning drug warfarin ineffective. When paired with aspirin, green tea decreases the formation of blood clots, which increases the risk of excessive bleeding. Green tea lowers the effectiveness of several other drugs, including: clozapine (an antipsychotic), lithium (for bipolar disorder) and benzodiazepines (anxiety medications). When paired with certain medications, green tea increases blood pressure. These drugs include: beta-blockers (which block adrenaline and treat migraines and high blood pressure), MAOIs (Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors) and phenylpropanolamine (an ingredient in some prescription and over the counter cough, cold and diet medications).
Side Effects from Bitter Orange
-
Bitter orange may cause increased blood pressure and heart rate. Less common, but more severe, side effects have been reported. These include: fainting, migraines, heart attack and stroke. The risk of these side effects increases when paired with caffeine, and Thermonex contains 300 mg of caffeine (50 mg as yerba mate). The risk of these side effects is greater in people who have preexisting heart and blood pressure problems.
